Three Pairs Samuel Godbehere entered his first mark as a plateworker on the 20th November 1784, address Cheapside His third mark was with Edward Wigan on the 13th September 1786, his sixth mark was with Edward Wigan and James Bult entered as S Godbehere & Co on the 15th March 1800 his seventh mark was with James Bult only on the 16th September 1818, this partnership only lasted until 13th July 1819. All the pairs on here are of the highest quality, the castings and designs are stunning. For Tongs by Godbehere and Wigan see here This pair can be dated as they have the incused duty mark between 1st December 1784-29th May 1786, a very attractive pair of Tongs with Adam style flowers and leaves on the Bow and quite delicate cast decoration on the legs. All three pairs on here have the "incused " duty mark This pair are in a very good condition with just a small repair between the arm and the bowl, considering their delicate construction, they have done well. This pair has excellent Bright Cut Engraving to the Bow This Pair are superb, and must be considered mint, with no repairs to them, and with no distortion at all they are in incredible condition. The Casting is top quality with a pattern on the arms of which the detail is superb. |
