John Lambe was apprenticed to the well known Ebenezer Coker,  and was free on the 3rd November 1762, it does appear that his first mark made on that date is missing,so his first recorded mark was as a spoonmaker on the 8th Febuary 1774, l have seen a lot of spoons by this particular maker so l believe he was quite prolific.

These Tongs are attractive with what l would call acanthus leaves decorating the arms, the bow is engraved with J D and has been engraved over a rubbed mark. the bowls on this pair are 5" long and weigh a very good 41 grams
