John Faux had no record of apprenticeship or freedom, his first mark was entered as a smallworker on the 6th May 1763, his third mark was in partnership with George Love on the 11th May 1764, the address for this partnership is unusual and is " in ye curtain Holywell Mount Shoreditch" he went on to enter several more marks and two were as a Bucklemaker, his last mark was entered in 1784, when his son Thomas Faux took over.

This delicate pair of Tongs have very good detail on the arms, the mould to produce these must of taken a long time and a tremendous amount of workmanship, the engaving on the bows is also attractive with Adam style flowers.

They have a very unusual Monogram on the Bows, see here
